The Mana Whanau evolution began in 1997 with Taipari Mahanga (rythym guitar/lead vocals), Pepe Pahi (keyboards) and Michael Kokiri (Bass), its first band members and Roots Reggae Storytellers. Since then, Mana Whanau have welcomed in many a starving artist to feast on nothing but Sweet & Irie, always Soul food, Rasta sounds.
With the diverse backgrounds of the existing members, who hail from the North of the North to the tip of the South, we as artists provide a sound that is rich and warm, and cloaked in South Pacific flavours.
Mana Whanau have entertained cantabrian audiences and is one of the most well known Cantabrian bands and have played throughout Aotearoa. The band continues to get audiences skankin to their rhythm and rhyme.
