Originals Musician from Auckland
I've been a music addict and encyclopedia since as long as I can remember, but had always written off instruments as they wernt my thing. I could never coordinate my hands on a guitar and I assumed pianos were just learning to recite classical music. 5 years ago though I discovered that producing is a thing and threw myself at it. Every night after work spending usually 8 hours on ableton. About a year in I sold all my equipment and stopped to come home and focus on uni.
But in the last 2 months I've jumped back on the horse, and with the technical hurdle behind me I'm actually starting to see myself making stuff I like, and getting great feedback.
I'm at the point where I believe I can team up with someone and feel like my skills will be useful. On top of that I'm starting to want to go beyond this being a hobby and come up with a project/album.
I grew up a hip hop head, so my style is always hip hop influenced and a love for funk, but I listen to all genres of music and try to learn and incorporate them. My strengths are sampling, the technical side of ableton, a very good ear for what elements sound good and a huge knowledge of artists and their particular styles. Currently been focusing on improving my ability for song structure/arrangement and also mixing and mastering.
Overall though, this has always been purely for fun, so I'm open to trying whatever the hell comes to mind. My most interesting stuff was made way back when I was absolutely clueless. I just wanna make funky stuff I can vibe to and hopefully find a cool style and mate to work with along the way.
