WHITE LINE FEVER - FIDDLE PLAYER WANTED FOR COUNTRY BAND

White Line Fever are a new Wellington-area country covers band. We formed earlier this year and are open to playing live gigs from September 2026 onwards, with our first 3-hour pub gig already booked for November. Instrumentally, we cover a lot of ground: electric and acoustic guitar, pedal steel, banjo, mandolin, dobro, piano, bass, and drums. The result is a full country sound that's not always easy to find around the Lower North Island.

We're building a repertoire that spans the 1950s to the 2020s: mostly mainstream classic and modern popular country, alongside rockabilly, country-rock, honky tonk, Americana, alt-country, and a nod to Australian and New Zealand country. So far we've been working on songs by Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Chris Stapleton, Ella Langley, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Bonnie Raitt, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris, Chuck Berry, Roy Orbison, The Allman Brothers Band, Alabama, Brooks & Dunn, Dwight Yoakam, Jackson Browne, The Mavericks, Slim Dusty, Gretchen Wilson, Clint Black, Eddie Rabbitt, James Reyne, Jo Dee Messina, Mark Chesnutt, Kaylee Bell, Bobby Bare, Delbert McClinton, Tom T. Hall, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Robert Earl Keen, Shooter Jennings, James Blundell, Terry Allen, and Santo & Johnny and The Fargone Beauties - with many more on the way. Repertoire selection is collaborative; everyone in the band has input into the songs we cover, and this will continue to be the case.

This project is about more than just live playing. It's about musical development, a genuine love of the country music genre, and having fun while entertaining people.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Fiddle is often at the heart of great country music, and we'd be really keen to add fiddle to our lineup. We're looking for a fiddler with an interest in country across the decades - including the electric fiddle sounds that have been a feature of the genre from the 1970s to the present day.

Like several other instruments in our ensemble, fiddle adds versatility and depth to a country band's sound. We're open to players of any level of experience, as long as you have the commitment and enthusiasm to develop with the band.

If you play additional instruments - accordion, harmonica, or another stringed instrument - that would be a bonus, though not essential.

A broad appreciation of country music is really helpful: not just recent hits, but likewise not only old school songs. And not just pop country, but likewise not only Americana/alt-country.

PRACTICALITIES:

We rehearse weekly within reason and are based across the Wellington region. If you're in Wellington city, the Hutt Valley, Porirua, Kapiti, Horowhenua, or the Wairarapa and are willing to travel to rehearsals and gigs, I'd be happy to hear from you.

We're looking for people with passion, commitment, and a genuine enthusiasm for country music - people who are actively listening to the genre now, and want to dig deeper into it.
