So far, I have a really solid acoustic bass player. Now I need a lead instrument. My preference is for a fiddle player, since many of my songs have been written with a fiddle as the lead instrument. A mandolin would also be cool, as would a lead guitarist familiar with bluegrass and/or Gypsy. Any banjo players out there? I play banjo, but I'm no Earl Scruggs. If you're comfortable with Bluegrass - I'm keen to hear from you.
I play a solid rhythm guitar, and have always done the lead vocals. However, three or four-part harmonies are solidly in my sights, so being able to sing harmony is a must. Naturally, fiddle players have to divide their time between chorus harmonies and fiddle, but we understand this.
I am based in Albany, if that is a consideration for you.
My aim in forming The Albany Highway Band is to start small till we mastered sufficient new material, and then play bigger venues. I'm not interested in gigging every weekend or every second night. I want this to be fun, and high quality, not A BURDEN.
So if, like me, you are an experienced musician wanting to get back into it - or if you are currently committed to a group but feel like a new challenge, The Albany Highway Band might be what you're looking for.
You will want to hear a selection of the songs I've been writing:
