Instrumentally, we cover a lot of ground: electric and acoustic guitar, pedal steel, banjo, mandolin, dobro, piano, bass, and drums. The result is a full country sound that's not always easy to find locally.
We're building a repertoire that spans the 1950s to the 2020s: mostly mainstream classic and modern popular country, alongside rockabilly, country rock, honky tonk, Americana, alt-country, and a nod to Australian and New Zealand country.
We want to cater to different age groups and tastes, with a mix of danceable songs and well-crafted ballads. So far we've been working on songs by Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Chris Stapleton, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Alabama, Brooks & Dunn, Dwight Yoakam, Roy Orbison, Chuck Berry, Clint Black, Eddie Rabbitt, Ella Langley, Gretchen Wilson, Jo Dee Messina, Mark Chesnutt, Bobby Bare, Delbert McClinton, Tom T. Hall, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Robert Earl Keen, Shooter Jennings, Terry Allen, Santo & Johnny, Slim Dusty, Kaylee Bell, and The Fargone Beauties — with many more on the way.
Repertoire selection is collaborative; everyone in the band has input into what we play, and this will continue to be the case.
This project is about more than just live playing. It's about musical development, a genuine love of the country music genre, and having fun while entertaining people. We're looking for musicians who share that attitude — people who understand that country music is one of the great American genres with a long and rich history, and not just a fad.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
We are looking for a male or female fiddler who is interested in playing country, including the electric fiddle often heard in country music from the 1970s up to the present day.
A female fiddler who also sings could be a great addition to this band — harmonies especially, but some lead vocals on selected songs also. This would allow us to cover some popular songs associated with well-known female artists, or where lyrics are gender-specific.
We're looking for someone comfortable singing both lead and harmony roles as the material requires, rather than taking on a dedicated lead vocalist role. Singing ability is a bonus rather than a requirement.
All of that said, we're open to hearing from any fiddle player who can sing some harmony, regardless of gender. And if you play fiddle but don't sing at all, we'd still be interested in hearing from you.
Fiddle is at the heart of great country music, and like several other instruments in our ensemble, it will make us more versatile.
If you play additional instruments — accordion, harmonica, or another stringed instrument — that would also be a bonus, though not essential.
A broad appreciation of country music is really helpful: not just the recent hits, but not only old school country songs either.

PRACTICALITIES:
We rehearse weekly within reason and are based across the Wellington region. If you're in Wellington city, the Hutt Valley, Porirua, Kapiti, Horowhenua, or the Wairarapa and are willing to travel to rehearsals and gigs, I'd be happy to hear from you.
We're looking for people with passion, commitment, and a genuine enthusiasm for country music — people who are actively listening to the genre now, and want to dig deeper into it.
