Calling any and all singers in the greater Christchurch area

Calling any and all singers in the greater Christchurch area. I'm looking for singers to help establish and maintain a weekly shape note singing. Shape note, or Sacred Harp, singing is a living folk tradition of acapella 4 part harmony that is hundreds of years old. Singers come together not for practice or performance, but to simply sing with and for each other. It is not political or religious, though many tunes are old Christian hymns.
Sung the world round with groups as close as Melbourne and Sydney, there is currently no regularly occuring singing in New Zealand. If you are intrigued by the possibility of changing that, please check out and follow our FB group page for more info.
