Country Band - Drummer + 2nd Guitar Player Wanted

Four experienced musicians and live performers have recently started a country covers band in the Wellington region. We are building up a repertoire of songs, with the goal to play professionally.

So far in the band, we have both male and female vocals, guitar, percussion, bass, and multiple lead instruments (electric and acoustic guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and more). We range in age from 20s to 50s.

Our aim is to be a 5-7 piece band with a full band sound (i.e. the same rhythm foundation as any 4-piece rock group, plus 1-3 extra country lead instruments).

We want to build up a good repertoire of country hits and classics from the 1960s to the 2020s to cater to different age groups and tastes. A lot of energetic, danceable songs, and a few lower-key ballads.

So far, our repertoire includes songs by Alabama, Brooks & Dunn, Ella Langley, Emmylou Harris, Gretchen Wilson, Keith Urban, Mark Chesnutt, Shooter Jennings and Willie Nelson — and we aim to add a lot more names to this list!

DRUMMER WANTED:
We are looking for a dedicated drummer. We already have a multi-instrumentalist in the group who is filling in on drums, and we have also had an in-demand local drummer helping out since the start of the year. But we are now looking for someone permanent to free the multi-instrumentalist up in the band so he can play other instruments.

GUITAR PLAYER WANTED (SECOND GUITARIST):
We are looking for someone who can share rhythm and lead roles with another guitar player in the band, can play acoustic and electric guitar, and who is interested in country guitar playing styles and sounds. If you're a guitarist who has at least SOME experience playing country material (even if that's just at home), have more than a passing interest in country as a genre, want more experience playing this genre with others, and like country guitar, this could be a good fit for you.

There is a growing market for quality live country music in the New Zealand music scene. And about time.

This band would be suitable for people based in areas like Wellington city, Porirua, Wairarapa, Hutt Valley, Kapiti or Horowhenua and who are willing to do some travel (e.g. for rehearsals, and in future, gigs — country music festivals, music venues, pubs, clubs and other events). Practices will be weekly (within reason). Some travel in the area may be necessary.
