Gareth

Musician from Hamilton
10 YEARS VETERAN

Gareth is a musician and writer who aspires to amuse and inspire people.
Born and bred in Manchester | England, Gareth has made his home half a world away near Raglan on the wild west coast of New Zealand.
Gareths' first album 'Nowhere To Go, Nothing To Do' features Alex Brown (Street Chant), Joshua Lynn (Stress Cadets), Bryan Holden (Auckland Mandolinata Orchestra), and Devashakti (Shakti Sacred Music) and was produced by Joshua Lynn (Thinkt Studios).
Previewed at Gaztonbury, the annual summer festival held on his lifestyle farm, Gareth launched the album by opening the Fiesta in the Park featuring the likes of Sola Rosa, Jan Hellreigel, Emma Paki and Sam RB.
Gareth grew up with the rock'n'roll, blues and country songs his Dad would sing as they drove around in an endless succession of stereo-less hippy vans.
He came of age in time for the psychedelia of 'Madchester' and developed a taste for jangly brit-pop with a side order of electronica. Writing music and songs from childhood, he formed his first and only band when he was 15. It lasted the 20 minutes it took to realise that the 5 other members were all auditioning for the part of Bez - maraca player, freaky dancer and professional drug taker.
Following a very unsettled period in his 20s, he moved to New Zealand and began writing about his experiences. He was discovered by veteran singer-songwriter Johnny Matteson and coaxed onto the stage where he found people related to the honesty and hope in his songs.
Gareth continues to share his songs about the being a round peg in a square hole at gigs that celebrate diversity, social inclusion, human rights and MadPride.
