ChessCountess

Musician from Alexandra
9 YEARS VETERAN

Chess Countess is the bold and vivacious musical alias of Auckland-based songstress, Tamsyn Miller, who has become well known in the Auckland musical circuits for her soaring vocals and extensive vocal range, built strong over years of training and experience as a classically trained vocalist.

As Chess Countess, Miller works on blending the two very contrasting worlds of classical music and hip-hop to create a unique, bordering-on-theatrical experience. Graham Reid has said, “Chess Countess brought a sense of theatre to her production of her songs which included an elaborate costume and terrific choreography.”

She has supported artists such as Eric Clapton, Tom Jones and Jimmy Barnes at the Mission Concerts in the past, as well as sung in Andrea Bocelli’s backing choir and performed as a backing vocalist for George Benson on his NZ Tour in 2010.

She performed at the 2012 Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park event, alongside the likes of Guy Sebastian, Jamie McDell, Jackie Clarke and Frankie Stevens and in June last year, performed on the mainstage at OneSound Musical Festival in Waikanae, New Zealand.
On September 6th last year Chess released her brand new single, “Play the Game (feat. Nuova Prince)”, a new-improved rap edit of the first track from her debut EP, Who is Chess Countess?. On September 28th she released the music video to YouTube and has received rave reviews.

CC is currently working on the music video for her second single which is due for release early next year.
