Hi everyone.
My name is Bob and I'm a bass player. I've just moved to Auckland from across the ditch - Tasmania to be more precise - but apart from my partner (a Kiwi native) I don't know anyone here. We've just settled in on the North Shore but I'm happy to travel for the right project, within reason.
I'm hoping to do some regular gigging. Covers work is where I've spent the past 25 years and I'd be keen to do more of the same here.
In my mid-40s but mix well with people both older and younger.
I've played most genres at some point and feel comfortable in most settings apart from jazz.
I've been really digging some of the more recent upbeat groove orientated top 40 tunes, especially stuff by artists like Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa. I'm also a huge fan of the stereotypical bass favourites like RHCP, Primus, Living Colour, Jamiroquai and heaps more. I like heavy stuff too provided it grooves. I don't discriminate.
I've got good gear and have reliable transport. I play 4 & 5 strings. I played 6 for a long time but I'm giving the hands a rest. I love finding new sounds and have an addiction to effects pedals. I do however know when not to use them, which is sadly 95% of the time.
If you're looking for a bass player/backing vocalist for an existing or new project, I've got a bunch of examples of what I've done over the years on a linktree: https://linktr.ee/bobtolputt
You'll also find a Spotify playlist on there of stuff I've been listening to over the past year or so. That might give you an idea of what goes on inside my head.
And that's the end of my TED Talk. I can't do quick introductions.
