Musician from Auckland
10 YEARS VETERAN

I am a vocalist that has put myself out to pasture in recent years due to kids/family/domesticity/blah blah blah.... but always in the back of my mind I've yearned to connect and express myself musically.

My children are getting older, my husband has his hobbies and Im finding myself with a bit of extra time on my hands.

I don't want to join a covers band but I'd be keen to jam with other musos and if the occassional covers gig ie party for the bass players cousins aunts workmates fathers 40th but really 50th is on the cards in a few months, then I'd be keen. :-)

I've been singing since I was 13. I went through a I'm the queen of the universe stage when I was 21 and then woke up and realised that everyone had gotten rather bored of my prima donna antics - hahaha.

I then was humbled by the birth of my now 18 year old daughter, and went on to join Tropical Hi at the ripe old age of 24ish. This was where my best learning happened. Even though Guggi was a tyrant, he had come from old school education where you did the job! No questions, no whining, no drama. So my role was to sing all the high harmonies and my vocals were stretched and honed so that I can now list Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion and Janis Joplin within my song list.

From there I went into study. I realised that music was my life. But as a silly young'un I met a boy *Ah Shucks - she says with eyelashes fluttering and swooning* and from there was subdued for the next 13 years!! ARGH!

I came out of MAINZ (Tai Poutini for anyone before 1999) with a diploma in contemporary music performance, which probably means nothing today because its well over 10 years since I got it. But I met some influential people and was able to grow my skills to include session vocal recording.

You've probably heard me numerous times without even knowing it on TV and radio ads.
One of particular note, and probably not in a good way, Pizza Hutt 0800 838383 - yep, thats me. LOL.

Others Ive done over time - the lockwood ad knock on wood, Harvey world travel, 0800 66 66 39 Money Shop, I did an ad for Daihatsu Terios that was released in Australia that was my best work - very shexy, if I may say so. :-D, and so on and so forth.

My biggest claim to fame would be the voice of Juliet in Rome & Juliet a love song. That was released on film last year (I've even got the DVD). My names in the titles but the actors (models) get the most accolades - Typical! If you haven't seen it, try to, there are some great vocal talents in it. Lapi Mariner and Fred Lemalu to name a few. And its quite funny and very kiwiana westie styles. Its set at Waipu Cove holiday park and it just screams typical kiwiana! Get it! It will put a smile on your face and the song of Juliets father when he finds her dead will tear at your heart strings.

My musical styles and tastes have adapted over the years. I've got an appreciation for country music now. Not the cheesy tell the story in too many words type of country songs but the beautiful haunting harmonies that sing of spiritual connections between heaven, earth and humanity. I can sing good harmonies and have an ear to blend to make other vocalists sound awesome. Like the way effects boxes work. LOL!

I'd love to get together with some musos or a musos club to collaborate some originals or rework some popular tunes, to record and even perform. My family always comes first but if the opportunity is there and I can make it, I will give you 110% of myself, mind body and soul - When I sing, I can't help but put my all into it.

I hope, if anything, you've enjoyed reading about me. I am an open book - what you see is what you get, and if you don't like what you see, we can move on, knowing that we've given each other a moment, like a wave that touches the sand on the beach - just for a moment, neither one changing the other for more than itself in that one moment.
