Hey, my name is Brett, entertainment front the Carlton. Looking to front a covers band initially, moving on to originals..... eventually. Learnt piano so can read music but don't think my musicianship will win many Grammys. Have a voice still finding it probably white soul maybe in the style of early Boy George maybe Lou Rawls. First single bought Georgy Girl, first LP A New World Record ELO. Fascinated by the arrangement of a song or what I call the choreography of a song. Believe the fundamental of a song is the tune upon which one builds a song. In performance as well as being a musically tight entity the full package must include a charismatic aesthetic frontman with beat with crowd recourse. Examples [not many] Mick Jagger c.1972, definitely not now, Mark E Smith The Fall, and Liam from Oasis. Influences ... Bowie, Elton John who I now hate, Chicago for the horn sections, solid electric radio pop, the Fortunes, the American soulgroups of the 60's and 70's. Like the idea of electrifying old style eg what the Stranglers did to Walk On By. Would like to do the same with say Moon River or Try A Little Kindness. Big respect for Bacharach and Hal David. Also Bob Seger, the Hollies, Wings, some Beatles, they did do some crap. I have been thinking about this for some time and it has just flooded out. I definitely believe in the time and placeand that is here and now. I AM going to do it. Was in Dunedin for early Clean and the Verlaines then spent 20 yrs in London but over there nothing ever repeated the euphoria, incandescence, beauty, honesty and innocence of Dunedin 1981. Sort of gave up any real interest in'88 when dance whatever arrived. Will rave [not] on more later. I am going to do it. Thanks. Yay.
PS do I have to learn AcneBook and Twatter?
